We were working on our current unit titled Transportation. Students now are able to describe most transportation units, what they are doing, and where they are they: land, water, sky, roads. This week students will be assessed on this unit. We also made our little art house (Ba’it) when learning the letterב (B); as well as art project when we learned the letter ג (G). Students came up with the words starting with the sounds of these letter. I was very impressed with their knowledge!!! And we absolutely cannot forget our amazing Black History Month celebration. It was spectacular!!! Students, parents and teachers had a wonderful performance!!! Thank you to those who came to celebrate this day with us!! The last two weeks were busy learning our “Transportation” unit. We added the places we can find the transportation units: In the sky we can see helicopters and airplanes, in the water we see boats and ships, and on the roads we see cars, buses, trucks, motorcycles, etc. Next week we will be adding verbs such as: The car RIDES on the road, the airplane FLIES in the sky, the boat SAILS in the water, etc. In Math students are learning to recognize numbers 0-30. They are solving additions and subtractions problems 0-10. Here are some captured moment: Song of the week!! We started our new unit “Transportation”. Our vocabulary is: Bicycle, scooter, bus, train, airplane, car, truck, motorcycle, Helicopter, ship boat, tractor, Student are very engaged. We are preparing memory cards to be sent home, and we will add phonetic pronunciation so parents and siblings can play together. We are learning this unit by playing Domino games, Bingo, Matching Games and 'Go Fish'. In Math we are learning how to recognize numbers 11-20 in both languages: English and Hebrew. We also worked on addition and subtraction, and matching numbers to quantities 0-20. Today,Friday, we are celebrating Elan's and Ms. Lindsey's Birthday. Happy Birthday Elan and Ms. Lindsey!!! Here are some captured moments: Story of the week Song of the week What a busy time we had just before the holidays. We continued with our unit Animals. We learned how to describe them for example: the giraffe has a long neck, 4 legs and a tail, the elephant has a long nose (trunk), etc. The students were assessed in this unit. And of course, our beautiful winter festival. All kids enjoyed practicing the performance and did so very well. This week we will start a new unit: Transportation. In English they will start learning about Washington DC in Social Studies. In Math they will start learning about measurement and units. We hope you had a wonderful Holidays. We were introduced to more animals and were able to describe them with at least two full sentences, for example: The elephant has 4 legs and a long nose; the zebra is white and black, the lion has a tail, etc. We also were able to say where every animal lives: land, sky, or water. We learned about different environments, including the farm, the zoo, the jungle, etc. This unit is very enjoyable for the students and teachers as well. Next week students will be assessed on this unit. In math we still working on adding numbers, number ordering and matching numbers to quantities. These past weeks we learned about some shapes such as: circle, triangle, rectangle, square, hexagon, star, and a heart. Students are able to identify how many sides each shape has. Here are some captured moments: Story of the week: Song of the week This week we started our new unit, Animals. This unit is so much fun. We studied the Hebrew names by reading books about different animals, playing animals matching game, bingo and domino. We are familiar with the following animals: Bird, elephant, dog, cat, Bambi, monkey, giraffe, zebra, fish, penguin, lion, turtle, snail, ladybug, camel, hippo, horse, donkey, butterfly, and I have a feeling that I left out some other animals we know. Last Wednesday we had a Hebrew Night event. Thank you for the parents that joined us. It would not have been as much fun without you!!! Math – We started learning subtraction, and number order, while continuing reviewing addition, and matching quantities to numbers. Next week students will be assessed this unit in English and in Hebrew. Here are some captured moments: Book of the week Song of the week We were so busy the last two weeks. We took our nature tour in the neighborhood and enjoyed the colorful trees and we collected many leaves. We also had the fall festival last week. We learned about the role of the first responders, and the various equipment on the fire truck. We then had our face painting, sang and danced to Israeli music, jumped on a bouncy house, and pet and fed the farm animals. And of course, we had our first parent teacher conference. Thank you all for coming or talking to us over the phone. Hebrew - we completed the family unit, and the students were assessed. Our next unit is Animals. Math – We are solving addition problems 0-10. We keep practicing matching numbers to quantities and consecutive numbers. We also celebrated the Hispanic Heritage Month. Our class represented the country of Ecuador. We had a display of unique handmade material from Ecuador, and we learned some of the fun facts about this country. We also visited a few other classes that represented different countries such as Chile, Panama, El Salvador. WE LEARNED THE UNIT ACCOMPANIED WITH REVIEWING AND REFRESHING OUR MEMORIES WITH UNITS THAT WE LEARNED IN PREVIOUS YEARs SUCH AS: WEATHER, COLORS, DAYS OF THE WEEK, ITEMS WE HAVE IN OUR CLASSROOM, AND THE CLOTHS WE ARE WEARING. ALL Lessons ARE DONE BY READING BOOKS, SINGING SONGS, PLAYING GAMES SUCH AS BINGO, DOMINO, MEMORY GAMES, ETC.
